Saturday, October 31st – 10:00pm – Main Programming Room

Midnight MasqueradeThe following are the Rules and Regulations for Saturday Night’s Midnight Masquerade. The Masquerade is currently slated to begin at 10:00pm, following “Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf.”

The Rules are Basic. If you have any questions, please feel free to seek out any member of the Hurricane Who staff for assistance.

Masquerade participants must be registered badge holders for Hurricane Who.

Participants are limited to involvement in only one skit (i.e., you may not be in a group skit, then go perform an individual walk-on).

If you are under the age of 18, you must have your parent/guardian/responsible adult’s permission.  If you are under the age of 16, said adult must be present at the time of the masquerade.

Registration

Spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  There is currently no planned cap on entries, but this is subject to change at the organizers’ discretion, depending on what occurs.

Prospective Entrants will need to stop by Registration for the Entrants form. It should be turned in NO LATER than 6:00pm on Saturday night.

A pre-masquerade meeting will be held at 7:00pm in the Fan Panel Room.  This is mandatory for participants.  If you are part of a group, only one person must be present to represent the group (more are welcome, of course, if the group would like).

Skits will be limited to the following time constraints:

1-3 participants:  90 seconds

4-6 participants:  2 minutes

6-8 participants:  2.5 minutes

For safety reasons, no more than eight people will be allowed on stage at any given time without prior approval from organizers.

Though the event takes place post-watershed, content of skits should be kept to a PG-13 level.  If you wouldn’t hear it or see it on Doctor Who, then it’s probably not okay.

Likewise, participants must be tastefully covered; no nudity, or especially revealing clothing will be permitted.  (We apologize in advance to anyone planning to cosplay post-defabricator Captain Jack.)

On stage, none of the following will be allowed: liquid (including, but not limited to: water, partial solids, gels, fabric or other items that contain moisture), projectiles, pyrotechnics, etc.

Any props used must be carried on by the participants and must be easily removed by them at the skit’s conclusion.

Weapons must be easily identifiable as props, and must be cleared for approval by masquerade organizers before the event commences.  For safety reasons, there is to be no brandishing or swinging of weapons without prior approval.

There will also be a special award given by the Convention Staff for MOST UNIQUE COSPLAY. We dont want to end up with 80 David Tennants after all.
