James Moran

Hurricane Who is pleased to announce writer James Moran as a guest for Hurricane Who Category Two!

James Moran – Writer – Doctor Who, Torchwood

James Moran is a British screenwriter for television and film, whose first produced work came as a result of winning a UK Sci-Fi Channel short film competition, when he had his script ‘Cheap Rate Gravity’ made into a short film. His first feature-length screenplay was ‘Severance’, a horror movie starring Laura Harris, Danny Dyer, Toby Stephens, Claudie Blakley, Andy Nyman and Babou Ceesay.

His first TV writing work was for Torchwood (season 2 episode 2 “Sleeper”), and Doctor Who (season 4 episode 2 “The Fires of Pompeii”). He has since written for many other shows, including Primeval (season 3 episode 2), Crusoe (season 1 episode 4 “High Water”), Spooks (season 7 episode 7), and its spinoff show Spooks: Code 9 (season 1 episode 4). He also co-wrote the season 3 episode of Torchwood “Day Three” with Russell T. Davies.

James has had short stories published in the Big Finish Short Trips collections Transmissions and Christmas Around the World, the 2009 and 2010 Doctor Who Storybooks, and Torchwood: Consequences. He is currently working on several movies and TV shows in various stages of development.

Laura Doddington – Actress – Big Finish

Actress Laura Doddington has appeared in many stage and radio plays, and on TV has been seen in The Bill, Doctors and as PC Wood in Prime Suspect: The Final Act. After attending auditions, Laura was cast in the Key 2 Time season as Zara for Big Finish Productions of Doctor Who.

Laura previously joined Hurricane Who at our 2009 Bon Voyage Party and we happily welcome her back.

Tony Lee

Hurricane Who is pleased to announce Tony Lee is returning to Hurricane Who for Category Two!

Tony Lee – Writer – IDW Comics

With an extensive background, including X-Men and Superman, Tony Lee is no stranger to the world of Comic Books. With the publication of The Forgotten last year, as well this years on-going 10th Doctor Series, Lee is not a stranger to the world of Doctor Who. With a keen insight into the world of comics and writing, Tony will be an invaluable source of knowledge on this popular medium.

A writer for over twenty years, Tony has written for every medium, from Radio 4 to UK television, newspapers to comics. It was in the realm of comics that Tony first got to work in the Whoniverse, a three part Tenth Doctor story in 2006 for Doctor Who Magazine.

In 2008 Tony returned to the Tenth Doctor in the critically acclaimed IDW miniseries ‘Doctor Who: The Forgotten’, where both classic and new series combined with a spectacular climax involving all ten Doctors.

In 2009 Tony has a one shot called ‘Doctor Who: The Time Machination’ out in May, before taking on the comic writing duties for the ongoing IDW series, starting in July.

Colin Baker

Colin BakerColin Baker – “Doctor Who #6” -  Doctor Who

Colin Baker (born 8th June 1943) played the sixth incarnation of the Doctor from 1984 to 1986, beginning with the concluding scene of “The Caves of Androzani” and ending with “The Ultimate Foe.” He later reprised the role for the 1993 Children in Need special, “Dimensions in Time,” and has also voiced the Doctor for numerous Doctor Who audio stories for Big Finish. As the Doctor, he had a mass of curly fair hair and a lurid patchwork coat, and was assisted by companions Peri and Mel.

Before being selected to replace Peter Davison as the Doctor, Baker was an established television actor, his most notable role having been that of Paul Merroney in The Brothers. Baker also guest starred as “Bayban the Butcher” in an episode of Blake’s 7.

Frazer Hines (born 22nd September 1944, Horsforth Yorkshire) played companion Jamie McCrimmon in Doctor Who, from “The Highlanders” to “The War Games,” and again in the twentieth anniversary special, “The Five Doctors” and the Season 22 story, “The Two Doctors.” Outside Doctor Who, he is perhaps best known for playing Joe Sugden in Emmerdale Farm.

In Doctor Who he played the part of Jamie McCrimmon, a companion of the Second Doctor, from 1966 to 1969 as well as reappearing in “The Five Doctors” (1983) and “The Two Doctors” (1985).
