Posted by hurricanewho On July - 15 - 2010

We are pleased to be able to let you know some information about the upcoming events for Hurricane Who.

First off, Hurricane Who: Category 2 has been rescheduled to the weekend of November 04 – 06, 2011. We will still be in the lovely Doubletree Orlando Resort International Drive. The staff there have been extremely supportive during this process and look forward to hosting us in the future. Guest and Ticket information will be available in Early 2011.

I know that it seems like a long way away. But don’t worry.. there is plenty of Fun to be had between now and then.

We are actively working on a special event to mark the weekend this Halloween. Still in the planning stages, expect more information on this in the coming weeks.

Over on the Geeks Night Out side.. there is “A GLEEful Evening” in the making for this September that promises to bring out the singer in all of you.

Add to this our Annual Holiday Edition this Christmas, and there is plenty to look forward to.

We thank you for your continued support these past few months, and look forward to seeing you all soon.

Sincerely,

Jarrod, Anne, and the staff of Hurricane Who

Category 2 Update

Posted by hurricanewho On May - 12 - 2010

Greetings Everyone,

As some of you may or may not be aware, we had a difficult time with our hotel for Category One. Due to issues too many to list here, we had to forego paying some of our Guests for Category One. Please bear in mind that while it was a difficult one to make at the time.. it was the right one to be made at the time. If we would have acted differently the proverbial bodies would be piled a lot higher and a lot bloodier. But the fact that his had to be done has not sat well with me personally.. nor with any of the people who have heard from it.

Right now, as it stands, it is not fair to continue forward with Hurricane Who Category 2 this October without having paid our guests from Category 1. So as of right now, I am in talks with the Convention Host Hotel to postpone Hurricane Who Category 2 until 2011. It will be our same dates that we already have for 2011. Those who already have a vested interest in Category 2 have already been informed.

One of the things I am waiting on to finalize this decision right now is the hotel itself. There a chance that the hotel might force me to hold an event this Halloween. If that happens, it should not be a Doctor Who event out of respect to the situation. There are a few other conventions and events in the Orlando area that are ready to offer assistance if that becomes the case.

So this is a ‘heads up’ for you all as to what is coming. Once there is a firm plan… I will let you know.
